THE EVENT
WorldSpace Satellite Radio is bringing the 2007 Live Earth Concert to the entire planet. Live Earth is a 24-hour, 7-continent series of 9 concerts taking place on 7/7/07 that will bring together more than 100 music artists and 2 billion people to trigger a global movement to solve the climate crisis. Headliners include Madonna, Smashing Pumpkins, The Police, Melissa Etheridge, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer and many more. They will perform in the US, the UK, China, Brazil, Australia, Germany, Japan, Istanbul and South Africa. The goal of this worldwide music event is to focus on the dangers of global warming and other "Green" issues. THE MESSAGE
Live Earth will use the global reach of music to engage people on a mass scale to combat our climate crisis, bringing together more than 150 of the world's top musicians for 24 hours of music from 9 concerts across all 7 continents. The music will be the link...but spreading the world about protecting our planet...that's what's important.
THE CONCERTS
Live Earth will stage concerts at Giants Stadium in New York; Wembley Stadium in London; Aussie Stadium in Sydney; Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro; Maropeng at the Cradle of Humankind in Johannesburg; Makuhari Messe in Tokyo; the Steps of the Oriental Pearl Tower in Shanghai; HSH Nordbank Arena in Hamburg; and Inonu Stadium in Istanbul.
